Jose Romero

Sebastian [Jose] Romero is a Mexican writer who’s currently studying literature and psychology at the University of Monterrey. He is transferring to the University of Iowa next fall. He entered the IB program during high school, went to local seminars and workshops, and later on attended the Iowa Young Writers’ Workshop and the Yale Writer’s Conference. He was the public-relations manager of a local literary group called “Punto y Coma” (Semicolon), and is currently the treasurer of the Literature Student Council. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in many magazines and journals, such as Origins, The Bookends Review, and The Battering Ram. He has also translated poems by John Gosslee from English to Spanish. Amongst his artistic influences are Juan Rulfo, Joyce Carol Oates, Ann Beattie, Emily Brontë, Lana del Rey, Felipe Montes and Elizabeth Bishop.
